Oh look: Steam went and broke its own simultaneous record. Again.
Just a fortnight ago, the PC client achieved a new record of 34,649,583 players, but today (Sunday, March 17), Steam has once again set a new concurrent user record of 36.3 million players.

According SteamDB11.5 million of them were active online and in-game at the time the record was set, and the other approximately 25 million were online and/or inactive at the time.
It's a testament not only to Steam's audience power, but also to the enduring appeal of PC gaming. Steam concurrent counts initially started to rise when the world began shutting down at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but even now, it seems like millions of us would rather do nothing else on a Sunday than sit in front of our PCs. for a session or two.
More interestingly, while these kinds of records are often set when a new game causes a bit of a stir (like the record-breaking Palworld, for example), this weekend, nothing notable is actually happening ; They're just people throwing themselves into their favorite games.
Counter-Strike 2 is as popular as ever – once again hitting a huge peak of 1.4 million concurrent players in the last 24 hours, while the rest of the top five fill out in exactly the same way as the last time the record was broken; Dota 2, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Helldivers 2 have all seen concurrent player peaks of 725,000, 707,000, 434,000, and 458,000, respectively.
Naraka: Bladepoint, Rainbow Six Siege, GTA 5 and Baldur's Gate 3 complete the top ten. This week, however, Palworld has fallen to eleventh place.
