Kia’s latest creation, the Concept EV4, recently made its debut in Korea during Kia’s EV Day event. While it possesses the typical silhouette of a sedan, Kia insists that it’s not your ordinary sedan – it’s a groundbreaking electric concept that blurs the line between sedan and hatchback, offering a fresh take on traditional car design. But don’t worry, it’s definitely not another crossover!
Part of Kia‘s strategic expansion into the electric vehicle market, the Concept EV4 is set to diversify the range of electric cars they offer, following the footsteps of the larger battery-electric models like the EV5, EV6, and EV9. The EV4 aims to cater to a more compact segment while still providing ample interior space, appealing to utility-vehicle enthusiasts who want the best of both worlds.
In terms of design, the EV4’s silhouette may seem unconventional, but it draws inspiration from the EV6, walking the line between hatchback and crossover. With its sleek, sloping nose, complete with a front trunk (“frunk”), and a windshield that’s expertly designed for aerodynamics, the EV4 is ready to turn heads. The rear end, resembling a blend between an EV6 and a Cadillac CT4, features an elongated rear glass that adds a unique touch and incorporates an integrated spoiler.
There are design elements that the Concept EV4 shares with its smaller sibling, the Concept EV3, such as the angular wheel well trim and the distinctive gray accents on both bumpers. Its matte-gold paint finish adds to its allure, making it a visually striking vehicle.
Inside, the emphasis on spaciousness is evident, with a clean cabin layout that exudes a sense of roominess. The dashboard features a single binnacle, while other elements are discreetly integrated, including retractable climate controls. The pin-style air vents, a unique feature also found on the EV3, add a touch of innovation to the cabin. The abundance of ambient lighting creates a futuristic and inviting atmosphere.
