Koenigsegg’s marvel, the Jesko Absolut, has officially clinched the title of the world’s fastest car by reaching a staggering 330 MPH at the start of 2023. This feat is attributed to its twin-turbocharged engine, which delivers a jaw-dropping 1,600 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque.

But the Jesko Absolut is more than just raw power; it boasts an innovative Light Speed Transmission (LST) that enhances its aerodynamic efficiency to 0.278, combined with a swift-shifting nine-speed transmission, making it a slippery beast. All these remarkable features come with a price tag of nearly $3 million.
However, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut isn’t the sole contender in the race to 300 MPH. The Bugatti Bolide has also crossed this prestigious threshold with a top speed of 311 MPH. Under the hood, it packs an impressive 1,847 horsepower and 1,365 pound-feet of torque, thanks to its quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine.

It’s worth noting that only 40 Bugatti Bolides were produced, and these $4.4 million beasts are strictly confined to the racetrack, lacking roadworthiness.
Now, you might be wondering how the classic 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona fits into this high-speed narrative. Well, this iconic vehicle was a trailblazer in its time, being the first car to break the 200 MPH barrier. Although it fell short of modern roadworthiness standards, it paved the way for street-legal speed demons like the Ferrari F40, which could hit a top speed of 201 MPH, challenging the Porsche 959 as the first street-legal production car.
The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, with its stylish design, was purpose-built for both on-track and off-track races. Named after the renowned Daytona International Speedway in Florida, this car’s high-speed capabilities left a lasting impression.
