Colman Domingo stars in A24 drama

A24 has released the Sing Sing trailer for his upcoming drama starring Colman Domingo de Rustin, who is currently nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards.

The video features Colman Domingo as an inmate at the Sing Sing Correctional Facility, who joins the prison's theater group where he finds purpose in performing with other inmates. The film had its world premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival. It is currently scheduled to hit theaters in July 2024.

What to expect at Sing Sing?

“In the film, Divine G, imprisoned in Sing Sing for a crime he did not commit, finds his purpose performing in a theater group with other imprisoned men,” the synopsis reads. “When a wary outsider joins the group, the men decide to put on their first original comedy, in this moving true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable cast of formerly incarcerated actors.”

Sing Sing is directed by Greg Kwedar from a screenplay he co-wrote with Clint Bentley, based on the real-life program Rehabilitation Through the Arts at Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, New York. Joining Domingo are Clarence Maclin, Sean San José, Paul Raci, Dap Giraudy, Patrick Griffin, Jon Adrian Velázquez and Dino Johnson.
