Everything Ryan Gosling Has Said About Performing at the Oscars

It's official – ryan gosling will channel his inner Ken at the 2024 Oscars.

After months of speculation, Variety announced in February that Gosling would perform “I'm Just Ken” live at the 96th annual Academy Awards.

The track, co-written by Marcos Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, received a nomination for Best Original Song. While Gosling did not earn a nomination for the song, he did earn a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ken in the film.

Before the awards ceremony, Ronson said Variety that his “dream” would be for Gosling to perform the song at the Oscars. When asked if another singer could take Gosling's place, Ronson responded: “No. I think if Ryan doesn't do it, then we won't do it.”

Gosling, for his part, has remained tight-lipped about the performance, but has shared some thoughts about the possibility of taking on the big number.

'Open to it'

During an interview with Variety In February, Gosling revealed that he had yet to be asked about acting.

“Maybe it's too risky for me to do it,” he said. “I don't know how that would work. But I'm open to it.”

'Do they pay you to sing at the Oscars?'

Gosling joked that he had not yet been invited to the Oscars when he was asked in January if he would be willing to perform the hit song.

'I only sing at the Oscars'

When asked what his favorite karaoke song is, Gosling admitted that he doesn't have one. “I only sing at the Oscars. …Oh no, wait, I don’t,” she joked. W. magazine in January.

Gosling added that Ken's song would be “Just Once” by James Ingram and proceeded to sing some lyrics to the song.
