In today's State of Unreal livestream, we got a look at Amy Hennig's upcoming Captain America and Black Panther game, or to give it its newly announced official name, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
The trailer itself is quite a spectacle, something Hennig said was all made possible by the Unreal engine. The game uses Epic's MetaHuman Creator, and boy, is it impressive. The character detail in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is actually quite remarkable. Speaking after the trailer, Hennig herself called the detail of each character “insane.”
“By working with the MetaHuman process, we've been able to honor the performances of our incredible actors and faithfully transform them into equally powerful digital performances,” Hennig said. You can watch the latest trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra in the video below.
“As the game's narrative unfolds, players will take on the roles of four central characters: a young Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America; Azzuri, the grandfather of T'Challa and Black Panther from World War II; Gabriel Jones, an American soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in occupied Paris,” Wonderful wrote to accompany today's preview.
While we don't have an exact release date for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra yet, it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
We got our first preview of Hennig's then-unnamed Marvel game in 2022, following its announcement in 2021. Today's offering was much bigger news, and Hennig promised that what we saw wasn't “smoke and mirrors.” Well, color me excited!
