In recent years, Japanese car manufacturers have been somewhat lethargic in their approach to the all-electric vehicle market, but that’s about to change. This apparent indifference from Japan’s auto industry hasn’t phased Tesla’s visionary CEO, Elon Musk, who has dominated the global EV market with an impressive lead. When it comes to the all-electric offerings, Toyota’s current lineup has room for improvement. They only have one all-electric vehicle, the bZ4X, which retails for $42,000 with a 252-mile range. Shockingly, Toyota’s luxury subsidiary, Lexus, is yet to make its entry into the EV market.

Subaru, known for its rugged SUVs, introduces the Solterra SUV at a competitive price of $45,000, offering a 220-mile range. This is Subaru’s modest contribution to the electric vehicle industry.

On the contrary, Nissan was a pioneer in the EV industry with the release of the Leaf in 2010, the world’s first mass-produced electric vehicle, which held the title of the top-selling EV for its first four years. However, the future of Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, in the EV market seems to be set for a later arrival, possibly in 2026.

But here’s where it gets exciting. Leading Japanese luxury automakers, including Nissan’s Infiniti, Toyota’s Lexus, and Subaru, are gearing up to unveil their latest battery electric vehicle concepts at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo, commencing on October 24. After a few press and special invitation days, the show will be open to the general public from October 28 through November 5.

Subaru is ready to make a statement with the Subaru Sport Mobility Concept sportscar model, scheduled for unveiling on October 25. This concept promises to embody the joy of electric mobility, allowing you to explore extraordinary environments with peace of mind. Subaru will also introduce its first all-electric vehicle, the Solterra ET-HS SUV.

Toyota is not far behind, with an October 25 unveiling of its lineup of Lexus battery electric vehicle concept models. Their goal is to transform Lexus into an all-electric brand by 2035. Expect to see a tantalizing sports car and a sports hatchback from Lexus.

What’s more, guests visiting the Lexus exhibit will be treated to a “Lexus Electrified VR Experience,” allowing them to immerse themselves in a future where electrification and artificial intelligence cater to individual customer needs.

And there’s a cherry on top. Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, will reveal its first all-electric model, the Vision Qe electric vehicle, on October 24. This concept, set to hit the market in 2026, boasts a revamped design with a longer wheelbase, distinctive lighting, and a rear that might remind you of a Porsche.
