Margot Robbie to produce new movie inspired by 'The Sims': report

The production company, which Robbie runs with her husband, Tom Ackerly, as well as Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr, will partner with Vertigo Entertainment and Electronic Arts, which published the original game.

Director Kate Herron — best known for directing the first season of the Marvel series Loki – will take the reins of the project, with a script co-written by Herron and Briony Redman, who has collaborated with Herron on several previous projects.

Development on an adaptation began in 2007, but never took off, and in 2019, it was reported that Disney had canceled plans to make the adaptation, after acquiring 21st Century Fox.

There's no word yet on when fans can expect to see The Sims hit movie screens.
