Garrison’s football journey was truly remarkable. During his college years at Oklahoma State, he excelled, leading the Big 8 in rushing, showcasing his exceptional prowess on the field. In 1972, he achieved the pinnacle of success by winning a Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys, a moment that became a defining highlight of his career. His outstanding performance that season earned him a well-deserved spot in the Pro Bowl.
With a commendable nine-season career, Walt Garrison retired in 1974, leaving behind a lasting legacy. At the time of his retirement, he held the prestigious titles of being the No. 3-ranked rusher and No. 4-ranked receiver in the history of the Dallas Cowboys. Even today, he remains fourth on the Cowboys’ all-time yards-per-carry list with an impressive 4.32, while securing the ninth spot with 3,491 rushing yards.

Furthermore, you could suffer more injuries from them than from riding a horse. While the Cowboys gave it some thought, I didn’t.”
