A former Xbox exclusive, Pentiment currently runs better on PlayStation 5 than Xbox Series X/S, fans have learned, leading the game director to blame the situation on a “bug.”
Social media user PeterOvo shared a screenshot from a video comparison capturing the framerate performance between Pentiment on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The former ran at 120fps, while the Xbox version ran at just 60fps.
This inconsistency was later brought to the attention of the director of Pentiment, Josh Sawyer. The developer responded to assure players that 120fps will be enabled for Xbox “in the next patch.”
According to Sawyer, disabling this feature on Xbox “is just a bug” that will be fixed. While this is nice, it still seems a bit unusual, given that Pentiment has been on Xbox since 2022. Either way, a fix is coming.
Pentiment is not the only Xbox game to make the jump from Microsoft platforms to PlayStation. Grounded, also from Obsidian, will arrive on Playstation 4 and 5 on April 16. This is the same date confirmed for Switch during last week's Nintendo Direct.
Additionally, Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves are also coming to PS5 later this year. Hi-Fi Rush is coming next month, on March 19. Sea of Thieves will follow, with a release planned for April 30.
