“I really love layering setting spray between different steps,” Melissa told E! News in an exclusive interview. “First I'll apply the skin, a coat of setting spray, then I'll apply the eyes. Once I apply the cheeks, I'll apply another coat. [of setting spray]. And when I put powder and spray on it, that sets it.”
Another trick to keep your makeup intact? “I'm always going to wear a red carpet foundation,” she said, “and a long-wear foundation.”
The makeup artist, who often creates dramatic eye looks for the Rare Beauty founder, also revealed how she keeps shadows from fading.
“You always need a base for eye makeup,” Melissa noted. “Whether it's a concealer and powder or an eye primer, the key to all makeup and longevity is layering.”
