Another Thursday, another Epic Games Store freebie to add to its growing backlog, this time in the form of the stylish 3D side-scroller Never Yield.
Never Yield, also known as Never Yield by Aerial_Knight to ensure you don't forget who developed it, launched in 2021 and offers an experience similar to a classic endless runner. It sees players stampede through a stunningly designed future Tokyo, all set to a winning soundtrack created by Detroit artist Danime-Sama.
“Take on the role of Wally,” explains the official description for Never Yield. “A mysterious character who has recovered what was taken from him. Hopefully, you will be quick enough to outrun your enemies. He exposes the truth and attempts to uncover the mystery of what happened to them.”
Aerial_Knight's Never Yield – Announcement Trailer – Nintendo SwitchEurogamer never got around to reviewing Never Yield, which is about to get a similarly styled sequel in the form of Aerial_Knight's We Never Yield, but Christian Donlan did have time to share some of his early ideas when it was a demo. “Drones buzz overhead, vans chase you and then crash, or they spin in the air almost taking your head off,” he wrote. “It has a fantastic, colorful aesthetic, and with its speed and sense of thwarting injustice, I suspect the final game will give me Jet Set Radio flashbacks.”

After which Astro Duel 2, a new sci-fi action game from developer Wild Rooster that combines top-down dogfights and platforming, will wear the giveaway crown.
