Ted Lasso sara niles has joined the cast of Brad Pitt and Apple Studios' upcoming F1 film.
By Deadline, Niles has been cast as the mother of Damson Idris' character in Apple Studio's untitled F1 movie. In the film, Pitt will play a “former driver returning to the sport with the fictional APXGP team,” while Idris will play his teammate.
Along with Pitt, Idris and Niles, the film stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem and Tobias Menzies.
What else do we know about the new F1 movie?
The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously made Tron: Legacy from 2010, Oblivion from 2013, Only the Brave from 2017, Top Gun: Maverick from 2022 and Spiderhead from 2022. The script is written by Ehren Kruger.
Pitt and Kosinski produce the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Dede Gardner, Lewis Hamilton, Jeremy Kleiner and Chad Oman.
Pitt previously said sky sportsthrough Variety, in July 2023 who will play “a guy who ran in the 1990s… who takes a horrible fall, falls and disappears, and then races in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, owner of the team, contacts him. They are a last team, they have a 21-22 record on the grid, they have never scored a point. But they have a young phenom, played by Damson Idris, and they bring me in like some kind of Hail Mary and hijinks ensue. I'll tell you what's amazing about it: there are cameras mounted all over the car; You've never seen speed, you've never seen just G forces like this. It's really exciting”.
Niles is known for playing Sharon Fieldstone in the second and third seasons of Apple Studios. Ted Lasso. She also played Rosemary in Netflix's The Sandman and has appeared in other projects such as 2008's Beautiful People, 2015's Catastrophe, 2020's I May Destroy You, and 2022's This is Christmas.
A release date for the new F1 movie has yet to be announced.
