During the new episode, which aired on Sunday, March 24, Colter (Hartley) found his next case when a prize horse named Argo went missing. While getting information from one of the owners to help him locate the kidnapper, Colter ran into his ex Billie (Pernas).
Their reunion marked the first time Colter and Billie had seen each other since she betrayed him at an old job. Colter, however, quickly shared information with Billie and referred to them as “old partners.”
“That's great considering we only worked together once,” Billie noted. “You know, when I saw this job I thought, 'In and out, open and close, easy money deal.' And then you came in. It will be fun to earn the reward.”

Colter and Billie have their eyes on the $250,000 reward, but it's not long before they team up. The on-screen collaboration marks the third time Hartley and Pernas have worked together.
Hartley and Pernas originally met on the set of The Young and the Restless in 2015. It wasn't until they reconnected years later that they began dating and subsequently married in 2021. Since then, the couple has shared the screen on quantum leap and now Tracker.
“It's amazing. It's also good for the environment. You can carpool and everything, so it's wonderful,” Hartley said. AND! News in February 2023 about plans to star alongside Pernas in future projects. “We absolutely will. Safely.”

A complicated story
After discovering that Billie is on the same case, it didn't take long for the duo to end up searching the same place for clues. That set the stage for Colter to bring up Billie's past betrayal.
“When you worked for me and sold me down the river,” he accused Billie before she offered her side of the story: “I was working with you, not for you. And for the record, I was the one who got you the job.
According to Colter, Billie “begged” for his help, adding, “You had no idea what you were doing until I showed you how to do it.”
Billie, however, saw the situation differently. “I guess I got the reward money through sheer luck and because you showed me the ropes,” she joked. “Something sad and sweet in the old way.”
Colter admitted that he “trusted” Billie before she betrayed him. She looked visibly bewildered before responding: “It's been five years. Maybe it’s time to move on.”
In addition to Colter's comments, her friends also had a lot to say about Billie. velma (Abby McEnany) and stuffed animal (Robin Weigert) tried to remind him of Billie's betrayal when they felt his resolve fading.
“She left you with an empty briefcase being chased by thugs,” the two noted. “I screwed up your reward.”
Bob (Eric Graise) was also surprised by the confrontation between Colter and Billie and said: “[I] I've heard a lot about you. The only person Colter has ever lost a bounty on.”
Surprising meeting
After choosing the same case, Colter and Billie continued following the same leads. As a result, they were eventually forced to work together since they were always in the same place. One such case sparked a slight flirtation between the exes.
“Wow, you are really failing. You didn’t even clean the room,” Billie said when Colter apparently didn’t realize she was hiding in an office. Colter, however, was not surprised and added: “I didn't need to clean the room. “I would recognize that perfume anywhere.”
Billie continued to note how “very good” Colter looked in his tuxedo.
Reluctant association
Despite their history, Billie suggested that she and Colter work together instead of holding each other back.
“How much time and energy did you put into thinking about my next move? I put more into it than I would like to admit,” she said. “Listen, the way I see it, we work together and move faster. I got a job in Austin to get to that thing that just came on my radar. “A lot of money and no bleeding hearts.”
Colter wasn't so on board with the idea since he didn't “trust” Billie. It didn't take long for Billie to convince him to give her partnership a chance.
“We were good together,” he recalled while calling for a truce.
Getting closer than expected
As the case developed, Colter and Billie seamlessly teamed up again. Later, Billie surprised Colter and Us – when he suggested they have dinner once they solved the mystery behind Argo's disappearance.
“I know exactly what you're doing,” Colter responded. “You're sugarcoating me and then you're going to make me do all the legwork.”
Billie, for her part, admitted that she liked the idea of Colter doing all the work and exploring their connection again once the case was closed.
The duo found themselves even closer when Argo's disappearance led them to a deserted farm. The trip was a trick by the real kidnapper, who locked Colter and Billie in a burning barn. They managed to survive, but only because they trusted each other.
“By the way, thanks for helping me there,” Colter said to Billie once they were safe. “You could have dropped me.”
She replied: “Do you really think I am like that? I guess I earned it. It's your own fault. You were acting so superior. “I had to prove that I was above your level.”
The emotionally intense moment took place in Colter's car while he was bandaging Billie. In a rare moment of honesty, Colter revealed that he “always thought” Billie was “above” her level. The conversation almost led to Colter and Billie kissing before being rudely interrupted by a phone call.

Leave the door open to betrayal
The last part of the case involved Colter and Billie breaking up. Colter would retrieve the horse while Billie prepared the trailer to transport the animal back home. Before their split, Colter apparently wondered if Billie would turn on him at the last second.
Billie did little to calm those feelings when she said, “It was fun working together. I'm serious. Good?”
Colter and Billie were subsequently cornered by Argo's kidnapper, leaving them no room to betray each other. They later repeated her plans during a phone call when Billie directly asked if Colter had “betrayed” her.
“I thought about it, but no,” he said before Billie added, “I was thinking about it.”
Potential hope for the future
Because Argo's kidnapper was one of its owners, Colter and Billie didn't actually receive the reward because all the assets were frozen. Billie referred to the situation as a “huge waste” of time, which is not exactly how Colter felt about the situation.
“I don't know if it was a waste of time,” he said. “Besides, you were right. “It was fun working with you.”
Colter tried to broach the topic of the dinner meeting Billie “promised” him. Billie, however, had already moved on to the next case.
“Rain control? I’m late for that job in Austin,” he told Colter. In response, he left her with some parting words, adding, “Good luck with that and I'll see you when I see you, Billie.”
