Tyreek Hill’s Playful Tweet Fuels Trade Rumors with the Cleveland Browns

Miami Dolphins’ superstar wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, caused quite a buzz with his recent tweet, igniting rumors of a potential trade to the Cleveland Browns with a light-hearted message.

Hill’s tweet was in response to a tweet from his former Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Juan Thornhill, who was offering a ticket giveaway for the Browns’ upcoming home game against the San Francisco 49ers. Hill simply replied, “Can I come please?”

In a friendly exchange, Thornhill responded by saying, “You’re always welcomed here, bro; just let me know.”

The comment section on the post was also filled with fans trying to recruit Hill, despite his hefty contract with the Dolphins through the 2026 season.

“We might be considered a ‘poverty franchise,’ but we will love you more than anything,” one enthusiastic Browns fan commented. “The land needs that energy.”

Another fan chimed in, “I’m not saying you don’t have a good thing with Miami, but Cleveland would cherish you more, just sayin’.”

Hill’s interest in the Browns isn’t new. He had previously expressed a desire to play for Cleveland when he was looking to leave Kansas City. During a jersey signing event in April, he told a fan, “They should’ve paid me; I tried to come to Cleveland. I tried, but they didn’t want me.”

However, the Browns opted for Amari Cooper, making a relatively cost-effective trade, acquiring him for two fifth-round picks and a swap of sixth-round picks and then restructuring his contract to be more team-friendly.

In contrast, the Dolphins made a significant investment to acquire Hill, giving up a 2022 first-round pick, a second-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and fourth- and sixth-round picks in the 2023 draft. They also signed Hill to a lucrative four-year, $120 million extension, with $72.2 million guaranteed. So far, the investment has proven to be worthwhile for the Dolphins.

Hill’s performance speaks for itself. He finished the previous season with 1,710 yards, ranking second-best in the league, and seven touchdowns. This season, he’s off to a blazing start with 651 yards and five touchdowns in just five games. Hill boasts 130.2 yards per game and 18.1 yards per catch, earning him the top grade as Pro Football Focus’ top-ranked receiver (93.8).

While Hill and the Dolphins are thriving with the NFL’s top-ranked offense, the Browns are grappling with significant challenges on the offensive front. Multiple injuries have derailed the Browns’ season, with star running back Nick Chubb suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 2. The running game has struggled in his absence, and the Browns are now dealing with injury concerns surrounding quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson missed the Browns’ Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens due to a shoulder injury, recently revealed to be a rotator cuff contusion by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. His status for the upcoming critical game against the San Francisco 49ers remains uncertain, as he didn’t practice with the team on Monday, and the Browns had a day off on Tuesday.
