WWE 2K24 deletes some images of Vince McMahon

WWE 2K24 players discovered that images of former WWE boss Vince McMahon were blurred in the game, following confirmation that he would not be a playable wrestler.

McMahon was previously expected to appear on the game's roster, but publisher 2K confirmed that both McMahon and Brock Lesnar had been removed after allegations of sexual assault and trafficking were made against the former earlier this year.

Despite this, McMahon appears in some parts of the game's exhibition mode, allowing players to play out iconic moments from WrestleMania history. The showcase includes actual footage and recreations of the events in the game, with McMahon censored in places.

However, other players have noted that not all of McMahon's appearances have been censored. For example, McMahon's appearance in both old footage and in-game reconstructions has not been censored in the WrestleMania 17 match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.

WWE 2K24 coincides with the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania and showcase mode has been added to celebrate the milestone. The 40th Anniversary of WrestleMania edition of the game has a special cover featuring several of WWE's most famous wrestlers, from which Brock Lesnar was quietly removed a month before release.
