That moment occurred when Cardi, 31, attended Jason Lee's Hollywood Cares event in Los Angeles. “Let me tell you what happened at Jason Lee's party,” Cardi said during an Instagram Live on Saturday, March 30, days after the A-list celebrity-filled gala.
“So I'm talking to Paris HiltonI am talking with Rihanna. “I’m smiling because when I get nervous, I smile,” the “Like What” rapper explained. “I thought, 'Oh my God, yes!' I'm in Paris Hilton's face because we [were] sitting next to each other. When I went home, do you know what I noticed? That I have something black right here.”
Cardi pointed to a spot on the front of her teeth, indicating that no one had talked to her about the stubborn piece of food all night. “I noticed I had something black on my damn teeth all the time!” she screamed.
She admitted that she was a little high and drunk during the gala. “I was like, 'Oh my God, I hope [Paris] I didn't realize,'” Cardi said. “When I got home and realized that [food]”I literally buried myself in my fucking bed because that's so fucking embarrassing.” Cardi added that she couldn't sleep all night because she was obsessed with how she could have clowned around in front of the public. Cardi has been open about her struggle with anxiety over the years. In the March 16 episode of 360 with speed, Cardi revealed that the mounting demands for her to drop the follow-up to 2018's Invasion of Privacy were too much to bear. “A lot of people just say, you know, 'He's afraid to release an album, he's afraid to release music,'” she said. “Last year I barely gave up music. It's like I'm afraid to do everything.”
The pressures caused Cardi to retreat from the spotlight. She said she was afraid to go live on Instagram, post a photo or even leave the club. Cardi said she was afraid of “seeing people the next day, what they're going to say about me and all that.”
“I love talking about politics and all that,” he said. “I don't even want to talk about it anymore because I'm so afraid of being dragged around every damn day like I'm tired.”
Cardi has apparently conquered these fears. After encouragement from her ex-husband Make up for, Cardi released “Like What (Freestyle)” on March 1. Two weeks later, she released “Enough (Miami).” The former debuted in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, while the latter peaked at No. 9, giving Cardi her 12th Top 10 hit.
