DF InDirect is a new fan-only program, and here's a sample

He Digital Foundry Support Program has grown again with the arrival of a new show exclusively for patrons. He is a companion of direct DF – hilariously titled DF InDirect – and its initial format should be recognizable to viewers/listeners of our weekly show as it is an extension of our existing Q&A section for fans. The show is available to all backers at all levels and is available to watch or listen to right now, and there is a small sample on this page.

The idea for InDirect came about because of the many great fan questions we receive each week. The truth is that we have too many to answer in the main program (which is already over two hours), while some of the questions require a bit of research before we have to answer. That is the case with the sample below: Supporter DaJaCo informed us about the discussion around a new improvement patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment and wanted to know what the idea was and its application in a possible PlayStation 5 Pro.

You can see our response below, but ultimately the recent AMD announcement The fact that you are looking for machine learning-based enhancement solutions for 'gaming devices' doesn't fit particularly well with the mechanics of the patent. On top of that, many patents are filed, but very few constitute detailed descriptions of the actual shipping products. Based on our own thoughts and those of developers we've spoken to familiar with the enhancement technology, this seems like an interesting thought experiment, but we'd be surprised to see this actually manifest on the PlayStation 5 Pro.

In this preview of the new DF InDirect show, Alex, Oliver and Rich offer their thoughts on what appears to be a Sony enhancement patent. Is the technology viable for PS5 Pro?

Anyway, I hope you find the clip insightful: We answer nine more fan questions in the full 87-minute show that covers topics as diverse as resolution versus viewing distance (that old nonsense!), Microsoft's collaboration with Intel, why we don't see more 40 fps gaming modes and the great debate between 1440p and 4K displays. And this is just our first show; Similar to DF Direct, we have plans to build and evolve the concept over time, perhaps introducing a live streaming element for fans when we film.

So, yes, we are finding our way on this one. InDirect can be monthly or bimonthly, for example, but the program itself will always be exclusive to our followers. The only warning? Extracts may be leaked DF Clipsif it fits well.

It is at this point where I feel obliged to address how important the DF Support Program is. In the current environment, YouTube's revenue is declining and the idea of being totally dependent on an algorithm-based platform over which we have no control has always been daunting to us. We don't make clickbait titles, we don't make killer thumbnails, and sponsorships are few and far between. All of these things have been proven to work, but they are not right for us.

DF is what it is: a small team doing its best to deliver unique and valuable work, but the Support Program is a great enabler for us, not only in terms of making the numbers work, but also in creating from a brilliant community that delivers the best it can. is put. Some of our best content comes from fan-generated ideas, whether it's the AMD 4800S desktop kit, the Switch 2 T239 breakdown, or, more recently, the RX 6700 GPU vs. PS5 showdown.

It's also fun to share some fun mini-videos exclusively with fans, whether it's John Linneman's first interactions with Palworld or We are just talking about an interesting HDMI device that we found on Amazon.. Our experiments with 4K 120 fps and 8K 60 fps capture? Our fans joined us on that journey and it was fun to share the progress behind the scenes.

DF InDirect is our latest ongoing project to give back more to our community and increase the value of supporting our Partner Program. I hope you enjoy!
